X (formerly Twitter) caps usernames at 15 characters with a 4-character minimum. Allowed: letters, numbers, underscore. No periods, dashes, or non-ASCII characters.
PickName's generator is filtered for the X rule set when you toggle "X / Twitter" in the platform chips. Every name shown will validate against X's signup form. Availability still depends on what's already taken — PickName cannot check that without an X login — but you'll never see a name that X would refuse on character grounds.
Typical workflow:
- Type a seed word — your name, a hobby, a project (optional).
- Pick a style — "Cute", "Edgy", "Pro", "Gamer", "Mystery", "Minimal", "Fantasy", or "Tech".
- Click Generate. You'll get ~24 candidates.
- Click any name to copy. Paste into X's signup field to check availability.
If you're trying to lock the same handle on X and elsewhere, use "Cross-platform safe" mode — it filters to the lowest common denominator (lowercase, alphanumeric + underscore, 4-15 chars) so the name will work on every major platform including X.
