Since Discord's May 2023 migration, usernames are lowercase-only and live in a single global namespace. The old discriminator system (#1234) is gone for migrated accounts.
PickName's "Discord" filter takes every generated candidate, lowercases it, strips disallowed characters, and shows you only the variants that fit Discord's signup rules.
Tips that still matter:
- Two-syllable invented compounds ("mossfox", "embercat") have the highest chance of being available in 2026.
- A single number suffix ("mossfox7") is fine.
- Avoid leetspeak — Discord's modern convention is readable lowercase.
- The period is your secret weapon: "moss.fox" reads cleaner in some Discord renderers and may be available when "mossfox" isn't.
After generating, paste the candidate into Discord's username change field to check actual availability. PickName handles validation; Discord handles availability.
