Display Name

The name shown in the UI alongside your handle. Usually editable, often allows Unicode and emojis.

A display name is the name a platform shows next to your posts and comments. It's separate from your handle: the handle is for mentions and login, the display name is for human reading. Most platforms allow you to use your real name, a nickname, accents, kanji, hangul, or emojis in the display name even when the handle is ASCII-only.
